San Francisco and Los Angeles small firm Carlson, Calladine and Peterson celebrated the unveiling of the over-sized sculpted heart the firm bought during the recent on-line auction to benefit the San Francisco General Hospital Foundation.
The law firm bought one of the 130 hearts, decorated individually by well-known local and national artists, that the hospital displayed around San Francisco in 2004.
"I read about the project," name partner Don Carlson says. I thought it was a worthwhile cause and also an opportunity to install significant art on our office roof deck."
Carlson focuses his practice on complex business litigation.
"After I attended the live auction and saw the hearts displayed, I knew we had to contribute to the cause," he says.
Partners Joyce Wang and Rob Peterson were in charge of the selection. They said that the hardest part was deciding which heart sculpture to buy, and then making sure they outbid everyone.
"There was a lot of last-minute bidding," litigator extraordinaire Wang says. "We didn't know if we got the one we wanted until the auction was over at midnight."
Even the landlord was supportive, name partner Rob Peterson says.
"It's a great way for everyone to remember the fine life-saving work performed daily at SF General," he says.
The hearts project raised more than $2 million for the SF General Hospital. Back to top |
