The firmwide solicitation program initiated just seven years ago registered significant gains during 2003-04. Under this program, members of various law firms containing multiple Hastings alumni encourage fellow graduates in their own firms to contribute to the Annual Campaign. When the firmwide solicitation program was first initiated in 1997, 17 firms in San Francisco participated. This past year, some 37 firms participated, including firms located in Oakland Palo Alto, Menlo Park, San Diego, San Jose, Los Angeles, and Irvine. Chancellor Kane commended the Hastings volunteers in all the represented firms for their very successful efforts. The 2003-04 participation rate of Hastings graduates in the 37 firms reached 35%, as compared to the overall alumni participation rate of 13.1%. Moreover, the Hastings graduates in seven law firms achieved participation rates of 50% or greater. The firms were:
